I SEE A VISION - February 2006
BY Hon. Don Efeme Mayar

As I put my hands at the back of my head I rested my back on a very soft chair watching the magnificent sequence of the wonderful water falls in the building of the world second highest International shopping center ( K.L.C.C.) in the capital city, Kuala Lumpur, I heard my name, then the next thing I heard from Doctor A. Ayebogbon the General President of the Nigerians-Asian dominated political Association was congratulations, you have just won the election after your speech, as the vice president of the Nigerians in Diaspora Political Organization- Asia. Out of excitements, I comfortably went into a short sleep, but not too long, I saw a vision.

I see a vision, this vision is about the truth, and this truth is about the dignity of the Urhobo people. I see a vision, a politically motivated vision. A complete sell-fish motivated political intention to the wrong side of the Urhobo mission. This vision is so painful to me because it is going be a high class conspiracy mission by some unpatriotic Urhobos to all patriotic Urhobo sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, chiefs and kings.

I see a vision; and this vision tells me that the issue of “POWER-SHIFT” is an issue that can “NEVER” be imposed to deprive us if it is not an issue that has been agreed by some. I see a vision that as far as our tribe is concerned, this “SOME” having for now NOT the political charisma to win the Urhobos mandate will involved themselves in a sell-out of dignity and honesty mission that is capable of depriving our next Urhobo generation a comfortable Political Atmosphere in the State. This vision is so painful to me, because it will be a high class conspiracy intension to the wrong side of the Urhobo mission.

I see a vision; and this vision tells me that apart from this Political greedy coup to disregard our culture and traditions, the cardinal principle of a complete democracy has been stab from the back. Now the blood flows to whom? Yes it flows to the next innocent Urhobo generations yet unborn. I look at my self, no blood sting can be seen on my body, and I look at the body of all patriotic Urhobo sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, chiefs and kings I see no blood sting on them either. I was now very sure that in the past our forefathers in their generation did not stab to sting this present generation, so why should this generation hold a knife for a proposed back stab to sting the next generation of all Urhobo people? Power-shift has never been the traditional requirement for constituting a governor of the State in the past so why should it be so now? Beside, it is not even a democratic process neither will it been seen as a genuine approach for constituting a formidable head capable enough to be the bridge for peace, unity, love respect and understanding amongst all tribes . This is the seat of the Chief Executive of the State and so I believe it should be occupied by who is assigned by GOD voted for by the generality of the people in the State based not on power-shift but by the democratic principles of merit. It should not be for anyone who is so desperate to sit on it. A desperate politician will bring any hustle laws to achieve his aim not thinking of the bad principles that may be set for the next innocent generation to come. Think with your head what his vision is all about.

I still see this vision today and this vision is about the Urhobo tribes which I am proud to belong today that if we cannot sit down and think of how to put our house in- order then history will see us as the architect of any misfortune that may fall on our land tomorrow. Not until the Urhobo community take the bull by the horn like for example making sure that the unity and political understanding between Chief James Onanefe Ibori and Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru is merged , It will be difficult to see the symbol of the Urhobo in the very high mountain of blissfulness. The house that is divided against it self can never stand.

I see a vision today that if it is given away wrongly tomorrow 2007, then we must have to wait for eight (8) years because the incumbent of cause will use his accumulated political influence and connections to complete the (2) tenure as stipulated. This will lead us to 2015.

I see a vision, and this vision tells me that by the evidenced on record on how it came to be on ground, only a blind man amongst us will stand against the next people when they comes out to say: “It is now our turn to have it shift to us”. Think with your head what this vision is all about. This will lead us once again to another eight (8) more years, this time we shall be talking of 2023.

I see a vision; and this vision tells me that there will be no sufficient historical defends for any one amongst us who stands against the third (3rd) people when they say “It is also the turn too to shift to us” because it is now a partially arranged cake. Although, there may be political confusions that may also lead to a lot of mishaps, but only then will it be very clear in the eyes of the Urhobos that, that back stab was indeed a very big mistake and those alive then can only say so in 2031 eight(8) years after the completion of another two (2) tenure. Please, think of what this vision is all about.

I see a vision; and this vision tells me that as evidenced of the political postulation on ground the possibility of a consistence Urhobo mission in our State can not be guarantee.

Conclusively, my personal opinion for telling you this vision is not for the braking down of law and orders in the state but for the protection of the Urhobo mission for it not to be sold out. The science and act of governance should be base on merit, this is what I believed. This will also give the winner a comprehensive authority in establishing himself with the best human materials in place or around. We need the best and it is the best we should be preaching about not the power-shifting. Lets be frank with ourselves, this power-shift has never been in the political history of the state before not even in Edo State or other States so why should it be only in Delta State? I think some one is taking it too personal and because we don’t have any idea of his vision or mission we have to take it personal too.

I believe that when it is free, it is open to all qualified personalities irrespective of his tribes, and then it will be a duty of each and every Union in the state to have the responsibility of produceding the best to represent them. If it is so the Urhobo-Union will do every thing possible to produce the best. I am not the best, but it will be my pride and joy to see that one of my Urhobo brothers or sisters wears the crown. Only the best is the best material to make an out-fit that is capable enough to fit to improve our today’s condition.

My dear patriotic Urhobo comrades, lets use this vision to attain our mission.
Think of what this vision is all about. I see a vision, this vision is about the truth and the truth is about the Urhobo mission. Let’s put our house together so that we can discuss together under one roof plain politically together and solved the problems facing us together. Divided we fall but united we stand it has always been so please lets keep it so if not for anything, at list for the love, respect and dignity of our tribes and traditions so that with Time we can all sleep in peace inside it.

Think with your head what this vision is all about.

URHOBO-WADOOOO.
